Welsh singer Tom Jones is on course to become the oldest male musician to have a number one album.

Jones, 70, recently released his new album Praise & Blame and his record is selling the most in the midweek charts.

If the album does go to the top he would beat Bob Dylan who, at 67, had a number one record last year.

However, according to the Official Charts Company, there are a number of artists that could beat him to the top spot as Eminem's album Recovery is just 500 copies behind Jones.

The crooner also recently hinted that he would like to collaborate with the rapper.

He said: "I couldn't be more proud of this album and I'm really blown away by the response from everyone. It's great to be top of the charts with Eminem - maybe next time we could be top together."
